Rita Ringma is an established ceramic artist. Having worked with primitive techniques and firing for more than thirty years she has drawn her inspiration from her travels to remote locations including the Philippines and Mexico.
I have always had a fascination with ceramic bowls – you can cradle them in your hands, fill them with food or beautiful flowers. They can be decorative, utilitarian, they can be empty or full.
When I make bowls from the earth, commit them to the fire, then apply the glaze to their body and then again allow the fire and smoke to penetrate them, for em this is a spiritual experience, it deeply integrates me and allows me to touch who I am.
Donna has also had solo and multiple group exhibitions in Australia and Canada.
